The last time I made a firm new year's resolution and stuck to it was in 2006. I gave up all carbonated beverages for the year. I did it because I was so ashamed of my British teeth, and I did it because fizzy drinks make me bloated. I also did it to overcome my minor addiction to buying Cherry Cokes from the drinks machine outside my place of work. I was very proud of myself for sticking to that resolution for the whole year, minus one minor lapse in July when I sipped some excess Mr Pibb off the top of Jeff's drink at Pizza Shuttle...
This year I have decided to make up for lost time by having multiple new year resolutions, which are...
1) Learn Indonesian! It appears to be a simple language to learn the basics of, and my kids love it when I tell them what words I have learned, so I have no excuse not to learn it.
2) Read at least two books each month, one for pleasure, one for work-related research.
3) Practice yoga every day. I could easily just bend over and touch my toes and call it good, but obviously my intention is to do a proper job!
4) Write every day for myself. The main goal behind this resolution is to produce something publishable some day, but it's also an activity that keeps me sane, even if what I write may not always be coherent!
What are your resolutions for the new year?
Great choices m'dear.
ReplyDeleteI would love to embark on the daily yoga journey with you, so I will try to accompany you from afar whenever I can. I've also started recording things in more detail each day. Not a lame teenypop diary, but facts, quotes and actions from each day. It helps my memory as well - something I've been increasingly concerned over.
My 52 books in 52 weeks has already failed. I started off with an awful book and thus feel no need to catch up. Oh well. I back your play!
I meant to comment on this ages ago. I love your resolutions! They will keep you mentally and physically happy and that goes a long way toward actual happiness.
ReplyDeleteGood luck! Keep us updated!
wow, that's a lot of resolutions... good luck hunny! *kisses*
